Just got back from all the CRAZINESS at Atlantic City …thanks for the weekend guys …and sorry for any ridiculousness on my part (sorry sang …ha… and jenny …and bum …and yohan …and tran …oh whatever, u know who u are …) and I got to see Dave (Doc), who I never see anymore. this guy checks the blog everyday …thanks bro, ur the f*cking man …and when I don’t have insurance, you can save my life. dave, this one’s for you buddy…sorry for not keeping up with the blog to give you a decent break from saving lives…we only have 2.5 weeks left, so I’ll pack’em in… enjoy …

I came across this blog as we’re finalizing nicknames and whatnot … I only had a chance to skim through it, but their games look crazy, they have a pretty cool logo, and organize it really similiarly to ours. I guess they haven’t done anything since 2006, but it still pretty cool to check out..I’m thinking they’re from Boston with all the stupid “Sox” references …which pains me to put into the blog, but whatever, it’s a Beer Olympics, and has nothing to do with with silly baseball feuds…but I still hate those idiots..

It’s not Beer Pong, but close enough I guess. Ping Pong Playa, made by Academy Award-winning Sundance Grand Jury Prize-nominated Emmy Award-nominated director Jessica Yu, premieres Friday in NY and LA. The movie’s about a Chinese-American guy named “C-Dub” who dreams of a professional basketball career despite setbacks like Asian genetics. Mom and Dad get into a car accident, so he has to take over the family ping pong business and teach lessons and the neighboring community center. There’s a rival ping pong school and all that …check out the full synopsis at the official site HERE.

The movie stars Jimmy Tsai (who also created the character as is co-writer), Andrew Vo (The Santa Clause 3, My Name is Earl), Khary Payton, Jim Lau (My Name is Earl, House, Big Love), and of course, in all things Asian-American, what film is complete without Roger Fan (Better Luck Tomorrow, Finishing the Game, Annapolis, Rush Hour).

After checking out some tables at ProPong Tables, I found this “documentary.” Why in quotes? I don’t know … it’s such a loose term, but I guess it’s a documentary. I don’t really want to dissect it and all …check out the trailer below, let me know what you think. Our BO2 video will be nothing like it, but I imagine BO3 to be more similar to what you’re watching below…kind of… not really… ha

BO2 Video

We finally got through all of the footage and have a concept for the video. It’ll definitely be different from the last one but still have a similar feel. Jenny and I will be editing this one together, so I think it look and flow differently…probably better!

GAMES

I added the schedules for Friday’s Beer Pong and Flip Cup seeding rounds. I have to actually draw the double elimination brackets in Photoshop, so I’ll get that up as soon as I find time too. I did one before, but it was before we up-ed the roster to 35.

BEER

Of course, we’ll be drinking massive quantities of Miller Lite. I’ve done a break down of the quantities in a detailed list, but here are some highlights…

- Beer Pong and Flip Cup require over an entire keg each

- Anchorman will be 8-16 oz. cups

- Cup Race is on the fence right now as an event.

- During the actual Beer Olympics, we’ll be collective drinking 6,515 – 7,075 ounces of beer. That’s a lot. And that doesn’t count the 3 kegs we’re getting for Thursday and Friday Nights…

- We’ll be buying 6 kegs total. Right now, our solution is to rent a hitch from UHaul and slap it on the back of my parent’s van. If you have any ideas about transporting these 160 lb. monsters to Taylor’s Island, or have ideas about how to keep so many kegs cool …let us know. We’ve got a couple ideas in the bag, but who know what you guys’ll come up with.

The reason we randomized the color selection was too keep it as fair as possible. Difficulty with communication left us with randomizing as the most fair way.

However, if you’re unhappy with your color, then please feel free to try to convince another team captain to trade with you. Then, both you guys e-mail me and the changes will be made.

TIME DEADLINE: We need final colors by the time we finish the design and nicknames. The trade block is open until that time. I’ll give you a couple days notice. Yohan’s working on nicknames, if you have ideas, please comment here or e-mail him. We’re sending Johnny the first set of ideas for the shirt design so that will be done soon too.

My esteemed auditing manager Andy assigned numbers to each captain and each color. He then used randomizing software (called GraphPad) to randomly associate colors to captains. Here are his results:
